Fire-Dex launched today the H41 Interceptor™ particulate blocking hood made with Stedair® PREVENT.
The H41 Interceptor™ is designed to reduce firefighters’ exposure to persistent fireground carcinogens and other harmful contaminants. This hood continues to block 99.9% of particulates even after 100 washes.
“After launching our first particulate blocking hood in April of 2016, we are excited to now have two of the most breathable options available in today’s market,” said Todd Herring, Director of Marketing. “The H41 Interceptor™ offers unmatched breathability compared to moisture barrier technology.”
This 2-layer particulate blocking hood features an inner layer of Stedair® PREVENT and an outer layer of 8.0 osy Nomex® (100%). Stedair® PREVENT offers excellent flame and heat resistance, increased air permeability and a unique construction for ease of movement and flexibility.
Following their mission statement, ‘To Serve Those Who Serve’, Fire-Dex is donating ten H41 Interceptor™ hoods with Stedair® PREVENT to four departments at FDIC in Indianapolis this April. Participants must be present in Fire-Dex booth 1823 to win. For more information and pre-registration, visit www.firedex.com/winh41 .
The development of particulate blocking hoods was inspired by the FAST Test Report, commissioned by the IAFF, which demonstrated that potentially carcinogenic submicron particulates penetrated a standard FR knit hood on the highly-permeable skin around the face and neck. In response, Fire-Dex produced the H41 Interceptor™ particulate blocking hood, which not only addresses the concerns of carcinogenic particles, but also minimizes heat retention, a common complication found in many particulate blocking hoods on today's market.
The H41 Interceptor™ with Stedair® PREVENT is certified to NFPA 1971, 2018 edition requirements for particulate blocking hoods. Now available for order. Find a Fire-Dex distributor at www.firedex.com/find-a-distributor .
